Fandom Mash-ups: Honor

Fandom Mash-ups is an original meme created by Lunar Rainbows and you can check out her post for this week here. Each week, she creates a scenario and you have to choose five characters from five different fandoms to help you out.

This week’s scenario

Honor! You’ve been dishonored by your peers and you must regain your honor at all costs! Which honorable characters are you going to call up to help?

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for the Game of Thrones TV show & A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Ned Stark (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones)

“The only time a man can be brave is when he is afraid.” –A Game of Thrones

Of course. I think Ned Stark is an obvious choice. I mean he died for his honor. RIP. In remembrance of the Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North, Hand of the King, and Regent of the Realm, let me list a few of things to illustrate my point.

Beware! Spoilers galore!

  1. He didn’t take the Iron Throne during Robert’s Rebellion.
  2. He pretended Jon Snow was his own son and bore the burden of the secret on his own.
  3. He goes to become Hand of the King when Robert asks.
  4. He pleads Robert not to kill Daenerys Targaryen because she’s still a child.
  5. He refuses to scheme with Littlefinger or Renly because Stannis is the rightful king.
  6. He is willing to sacrifice his pride to save his children.
  7. He is executed because of his honor.

Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus)

I love Percy Jackson. He’s funny, and smart, and powerful, and brave, and loyal, and trustworthy. He fights for his friends and is willing to anger super powerful monsters and gods to save and/or defend the people he loves. Percy is just such a wonderful character who’s immature at times but can also be wise beyond his years. He grows so much, from the bullied outcast at schools to the freaking leader of the Camp Half-Blood army (and even more after The Heroes of Olympus series) and vanquishes monsters and giants and Titans. Holy moly, Percy Jackson is such an amazing character but throughout the series, he maintains his moral compass and is always heroic.

If you haven’t read the series, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE GO READ THEM.

Mulan (Disney)

Sadly, Mulan is the only female character on my list. I don’t know why but for some reason, the word “honorable” almost always conjures up male characters. Of course I believe everyone has the potential to be honorable but that’s just what my mind does.

I’m also not sure if “Disney” counts as a fandom but OH WELL. Mulan is a kick-ass and brave-as-hell female characters. She is no damsel in distress. She owns being strong.

I’m sure everyone knows the story but Mulan volunteers in place of her father to serve in the army because her father has a bad leg.

She refuses to give up on herself even when she’s failed at being the perfect stereotypical girl of the time. She works hard, she never quits, and she fights to save something greater than herself. I just love her character and even though she “disgraced” herself during her matchmaking appointment, she brought honor to all of China by defeating the enemy army.

“Our little baby’s all grown up and savin’ China! You have a tissue?” –Mulan

Jem Carstairs (The Infernal Devices)

Sweet, sweet Jem. He is such a pure character, despite the suffering he endured at a young age. He treats everyone with kindness; it is not something he does but something that is a part of him. Jem is just such a sweet character who has no evil in his heart and I would be honored if he could help me regain my honor.

Captain America (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Captain America is a good guy. I mean, that’s why he’s Captain America. He always tries to do the ‘right thing’ (I don’t always think the right things are the smart things to do) and he’s just a solidly good person.

It doesn’t hurt that Chris Evans portrays him. I would definitely not mind him helping me regain my honor *wink wink*

Great list! I especially like Ned Stark (yeah he’s kinda honor personified) and Captain America too. Chris Evans is a pretty good Cap! :)
